This project involved a series of carefully considered external upgrades to a Grade II listed townhouse overlooking Kew Green. The works focused on enhancing the approach and entrance sequence to the building, improving accessibility and usability while preserving its historic character.
Forming part of a late-18th-century terrace, the house is defined by its yellow brick façade, stucco detailing and traditional sash windows. The design approach drew closely on the building’s existing architectural language, with new elements informed by historic detailing and proportion. Subtle references to existing motifs were incorporated to ensure a cohesive and integrated outcome.
Working with specialist craftspeople, the works were executed using traditional materials and techniques, allowing the upgrades to sit comfortably within the historic fabric of the building. The result is a refined and understated improvement that maintains the integrity and character of this listed property.
